Impact of USA Aggression on Houthis in Yemen

On March 13, 2025, Abdul Malik Al-Houthi (Leader of the Yemeni Houthis), through a video recording said, we once again issue a warning to America, that their continued aggression against our country, in support of the Israeli enemy, will push us to confront their escalation with additional escalation options. We are currently responding to their aggression by targeting their aircraft carriers, warships, and naval vessels. However, if they continue their aggression, we have a bigger escalation option, which will be more painful.

Previously, Donald Trump (President of the United States of America) launched an intense airstrike campaign targeting the Houthis. The attack killed 53 people including children, and injured dozens more. On the other hand, US officials said that more airstrikes were planned. This attack is part of a broader pressure on Iran which the United States considers to be supporting the Houthis. Trump has also warned Iran that they will bear the consequences if they continue to support the Houthis. Meanwhile, Houthi supporters have vowed to retaliate against the US and Israel for blocking aid to Gaza.

The US aggression against the Houthis in Yemen, both directly and through support for the Saudi-led coalition, has had far-reaching international implications. These implications affect relations between countries, geopolitical dynamics, and foreign policy in the Middle East and beyond. Here are some of the international implications of the US aggression against the Houthis. One of the biggest implications is the escalation of tensions between the US and Iran. Iran has openly supported the Houthis, both in the form of military, financial, and logistical support. Meanwhile, the US, along with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, supports the internationally recognized Yemeni government in confronting the Houthis. These tensions have worsened already tense US-Iran relations, especially after the US withdrew from the Iran Nuclear Deal (JCPOA) in 2018 and began a “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran. In this context, Yemen has become one of the battlegrounds for competition between the two major powers.
